Next, head to Ajloun, home to the magnificent Ajloun Castle, a 12th-century fortress built during the Mamluk era. The castle offers panoramic views of the surrounding Jordan Valley, pine forests, and rolling hills. This site perfectly exemplifies medieval Arab military architecture combined with the region’s natural beauty.

Umm Qais

You can continue to Umm Qais, an ancient town once the thriving Greco-Roman city of Gadara. Known for its strategic location near Jordan’s borders with Palestine and Syria, Umm Qais offers breathtaking views of the Sea of Galilee, the Golan Heights, and the Yarmouk River Valley. Explore the ruins of Gadara, including its Roman amphitheater and Basilica, before returning to your hotel in Amman for the night.

DAY 3

Amman Hotel – Amman City Tour - Deserts Castle Visit – Amman Overnight

After breakfast, embark on a tour of Amman, the vibrant capital city of Jordan. Begin with the Amman Citadel (Jebel Al-Qala’a), an ancient site that houses historical treasures such as the Temple of Hercules, the Ayyubid Watchtower, and the iconic Hand of Hercules Statue. Next, visit the stunning Roman Theatre, a 6,000-seat amphitheater that dates back to the 2nd century and is still used for performances today. Explore the Archaeological Museum, showcasing artifacts from Jordan’s ancient civilizations, and the Folklore Museum, which offers insights into Jordan’s rich cultural heritage. End your city tour with a visit to traditional bazaars, where you can shop for local handicrafts and souvenirs.

Desert Castles

In the afternoon, travel to Jordan’s Eastern Desert to visit its iconic Desert Castles, remarkable examples of early Islamic architecture and art. Their fine mosaics, frescoes, stone, stucco carvings, and illustrations, inspired by the best in Persian and Greco-Roman traditions, tell countless stories of life as it was during the 8th century. Called castles because of their imposing stature, the desert complexes served various purposes as caravan stations, agriculture and trade centers, resort pavilions and outposts that helped distant rulers forge ties with local Bedouins. Several of these preserved compounds are clustered to the east and south of Amman.

Qasr Kharana or al Harrana

One of the earliest examples of Islamic architecture in Jordan, this imposing fortress is believed to have been built before the 8th century.

Qasr Amra

A UNESCO World Heritage Site, this 8th-century castle is famous for its well-preserved frescoes depicting hunting scenes, zodiac signs, and royal life.

Qasr al-Azraq

A large fortress made from Black Basalt strategically located near a desert oasis. This castle played a key role during the Arab Revolt, serving as a headquarters for T.E. Lawrence ("Lawrence of Arabia").

Return to your hotel in Amman for an overnight stay.

DAY 4

Amman Hotel – Madaba – Mount Nebo – Baptism Site – Dead Sea – Dead Sea Overnight

After breakfast, journey to Madaba, known as the "City of Mosaics." Visit the Greek Orthodox Church of St. George, home to the famous Mosaic Map of the Holy Land, one of the oldest and most detailed maps of its kind.

Mount Nebo

Visitors from all around the world come to Mount Nebo – the sacred mountain in Jordan standing over2,000 feet high. These brilliant views are believed to be those from which Moses gazed upon the Holy Land before his death. The landscape is home to stunning surroundings and one can look out at the Dead Sea, Bethlehem, and on a clear day, even Jerusalem. The Memorial Church of Moses also rests at the summit, which also provides a significant visit for Christians.

Baptism Site

Home to several biblical cities including Sodom, Gomorrah, and Zoar, the archaeological discoveries between the Jordan River and Tal al-Kharrar have identified this area as BiblicalBethany Beyond the Jordan.” The area is where John was living when he baptized Jesus. Designated as a UNESCO World Heritage site, the Baptism Site Commission welcomes pilgrims from all around the world seeking spiritual connection to biblical times, a glimpse of history or a chance to be baptized where Jesus was so many years ago. If that’s not enough biblical history for one area, the cave where Lot and his daughters took refuge after the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah is located just outside an area called Safi (Biblical Zoar). This site is one of Jordan’s UNESCO World Heritage sites.

Dead Sea

A spectacular natural wonder, the Dead Sea is located 427 meters below sea level and is perfect for wellness, religious tourism, and fun in the sun with the family. With its mix of beach living and religious history, you can soak up the sun while Biblical scholars can get their daily dose of religious history. The leading attraction at the Dead Sea is the warm, soothing, super salty water itself – some ten times saltier than seawater and rich in chloride salts of magnesium, sodium, potassium, bromine, and several others. The unusually warm, incredibly buoyant, and mineral-rich waters have attracted visitors since ancient times, including King Herod the Great and the beautiful Egyptian Queen "Cleopatra." All of them have luxuriated in the Dead Sea's rich, black, Stimulating mud and floated effortlessly on their backs while soaking up the water's healthy minerals along with the gently diffused rays of the Jordanian sun.

The only reserve in Jordan that encompasses the four different bio-geographical zones of the country (Mediterranean, Irano-Turanian, Saharo-Arabian, and Sudanian), it is a melting pot of species from Europe, Africa, and Asia. Such a combination of natural communities in a single area is unique in Jordan, and many of Dana Biosphere Reserve’s animals and plants are very rare. So far, a total of 800 plant species and 449 animal species have been recorded in the Reserve, of which 25 are known to be endangered, including the Sand Cat, the Syrian Wolf, the Lesser Kestrel, and the Spiny Tailed Lizard.

Shobak

Continue to Shobak Castle, also known as "Montreal," the first Crusader fortress built east of the Jordan River. Marvel at its impressive ruins and enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding desert landscape.
